Our Shop is a volunteer project for the benefit of the community. Our community started the project when many of you generously contributed to more than £7000 raised within our Community by way of loans and donations as the initial funding for our shop. This funding provided proof of local commitment, this commitment encouraged the Village Retail Services Association (ViRSA) to support our shop with further sponsorship, and also register our shop with the Financial Services Authority, under the Industrial and Provident Societies Acts 1965 – 2002.

Formal registration of the Penhow Village Shop Ltd permits the Management Committee to invite applications for Membership of the Association.

Local residents over the age of 18 who support the objects of the Association and are willing to pay the appropriate annual subscription £5 are eligible to apply for Membership, which is at the discretion of the Management Committee. Membership gives members the opportunity to have a say in the running of our Shop and the election the Management Committee by attendance at the Annual General Meeting.

Shares of £5 each are issued upon admission to the membership of the Association. The shares will not carry any right to interest, dividend or bonus. Each share will give the owner an equal say in the running of the Association. One share will entitle the holder to one vote at general meetings of the Association. The liability of a member is limited to £5. A member can only hold one share.

From 1 Nov 2008 to 30 Sept 2009 only, £5 will purchase the annual membership and one share. There after a share will be £5 and the annual membership due on every 1st November a further £5

Rules
